Hawaiian Teriyaki Burger

A golden slice of pineapple adds some sweetness while the ginger adds a little spice to this burger. Drizzled with homemade teriyaki glaze, you just can’t beat a good Hawaiian-style teriyaki burger.

Makes 8 burgers

Box grater

2lbs Ground Beef
1/2 cup Carrots
1/2 cup Scallions
1t Ginger
1T Soy Sauce
1t Sriracha
8 Pineapple rings
8 Burger buns

1/2½T Cornstarch
1/4 cup Cold Water
1/4 cup Soy Sauce
1/2 cup Pineapple Juice
3T Brown Sugar
1/2t Ginger
1 Garlic Clove

Grate carrots and ginger on the smallest holes of your box grater.

Chop scallions.

Fine mince ginger and garlic for teriyaki sauce.

Mix together cornstarch and water.

Heat and oil your grill.

Combine the ground beef carrots, scallions, ginger, soy sauce, and Sriracha and mix well. Do not overwork the meat so it doesn’t get tough.

Form meat mixture into 8 equal size patties.

Place the patties on the grill and cook over MED-HI to your liking.

While the burgers are cooking, grill the pineapple slices for about 3 minutes on each side.

Add all ingredients (minus cornstarch/water mixture) in a small pot.

Heat your pot over MED heat and bring to a boil.

Simmer for about 15 minutes, until sauce reduces.

Add cornstarch/water mixture and simmer about 2 minutes, until thick.

Remove pot from heat and cool.

Place burger patty on the bottom of each burger bun and top with a grilled pineapple slice.

Top it all off with 1T of teriyaki sauce; enough to cover the burger patty.

Add your favorite toppings/condiments on the top bun and assemble burger.
